I met Mr. Green in 1981 when his daughter Lana and I became best friends. It has been a friendship that continues to this day and has stood the test of time.
There were many times I was invited to go camping at Fundy National Park and in Maine with the family growing up. He always had a smile and a laugh when Lana and I would sing in the car or tell stories of our latest adventures.
One of his specialties was homemade vanilla ice cream that he made each year for Christmas and for all of us on our high school prom night.
My daughters and I extend our deepest condolences to Lana, David, Colton and Chad, Brad and family, and to Laurene on the loss of a wonderful father and husband.
Love
Heather (Brown) Helpard (and daughters Haley and Olivia)

To Laurine, Lana, Brad and families,
I was saddened to hear of Vernon's passing. I remember all the good times Cal and I had with you and Vernon in the early years, camping at Fundy Park, and the many visits, too, back and forth between Zephyrhills and here in Cape Coral, Florida! I especially remember his funny stories, and going to yard sales and early-bird dinner buffets together, and laughing a lot!
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends; I hope the cherished memories you have of him will help you through this difficult journey.
With sympathy,
Marge (Moir)

It was with sadness that I learned about Vernon's passing. I was very fortunate to have been one of the students who rented an apartment in Vernon and Laurine's basement at 140 Montgomery St. I was there between September 1967 and April 1970. Vernon ( Mr. Green to us back in the day) would drive us to campus every morning dropping us off at our respective class locations.. some at Teacher's College and me down the hill at UNB. I was in the Nursing faculty and was required to do clinical placements at the Fredericton hospital ( Saturdays in 1st Year, Tues and Thurs. in 2nd year and Tues, Thurs and Saturdays in 3rd year... ) Other than my very first day, Vernon would get up at 6:30am to get me to every single one of my clinical days. Incredible!! I was from PEI and did not get home very often but I felt looked after and supported. I would go to church with Vernon and Laurine on many Sundays. I have continued to visit Vernon and Laurine over the years. After graduating from UNB, I moved to Toronto and would try to schedule a visit with them on the way back to Toronto following my annual trip home to PEI. Vernon often made fresh treats that I enjoyed on these visits. After a couple years hiatus due to Covid restrictions, I was able to visit Vernon and Laurine this past August. I was blessed to see him one last time. It was almost 55 years to the day since Vernon and Laurine came into my life. I will never forget Vernon's kindest, his sense of humour and his generosity. The world was a better place with him in it. My thoughts and prayers go to Laurine, Brad, Lana and their respective families.

Dear Brad, Jenn, Lana, Lorine and all families.
Iam very saddened to read of your dad passing. They were so friendly and kind to me when we lived on Brunswick St., I enjoyed working with your fam, Brad, in politics. They found it amusing I had 200 signs in my apt nailing to sticks. Ha .. they are amazing wonderful folks, as you are Brad. May you and Jenn & Lana find any comfort you can knowing the impact your dad has had in all of your lives. Love to all of you.Louanne
