PLEASE CLICK HERE TO VIEW LIVESTREAM OF SERVICE (ENTER PASSCODE: 123456 The family of Vernon Glendenning Green is saddened to share the news of his passing on the morning of December 24, 2022, at the age of 89 following a few years of declining health. He and his wife Laurine (Nicholson) were married for 67 years. Born on April 4, 1933, in Bloomfield Ridge on the Upper Miramichi, Vernon was the son of Glenn and Bertha (Moir) Green. Growing up, he developed what would become a life-long love of the outdoors. His first job was working in the kitchen of the fishing and hunting camps owned and operated by his father, catering to mostly American “sports” who would travel to the Miramichi for its world-class salmon fishing. When the family relocated to Nashwaaksis, New Brunswick in the early 1950’s, Vernon began working in the Green’s new supermarket located on Main Street. Vernon met his future wife Laurine at a United Church young peoples’ club. They were married in August 1955. At the time, Vernon was working with University Press in Fredericton, and Laurine had begun her teaching career. Vernon soon embarked on a new career of his own in the financial services industry, beginning with Cooperators Insurance. He then went to work for Eastern and Chartered Trust and its successor company Canada Permanent Trust, first in Fredericton and then for seven years in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, where he served as the branch’s Mortgage Officer. In 1977, Vernon took a position with the Mortgage Insurance Company of Canada in Moncton, and after three years the family returned to Fredericton when Vernon accepted a job with Royal Trust. The final chapter of his working life was as a proud provincial civil servant when he joined the New Brunswick Department of Transportation as a Right-of-Way Agent. He remained in that role until he retired. Following retirement, Vernon and Laurine spent many happy winters at Settler’s Rest in Zephyrhills, Florida, where they made a new circle of friends, and Vernon kept busy with his passion for home renovation and small construction projects. He enjoyed visiting the second-hand sales in the area and amassed a collection of tools and cast-iron cookware. In the early 1950’s, Vernon was invited by a friend to join the Fredericton Phalanx Club, a group for young men associated with the Fredericton YMCA. When he and the others in the group became too old for the Phalanx program, they decided to form a new club and became charter members of the Epsilon Y’s Men’s Club. Vernon also sang in the chorus of the group’s travelling musical revue, helping to raise money to combat polio. Over the years, Vernon was at one time a member of the Fredericton Kinsmen Club and later the United Commercial Travellers. Throughout his life, he was an active member of the United Church of Canada, first in Bloomfield Ridge, for many years at Saint Paul’s United in Fredericton, and when they were living elsewhere, Trinity United in New Glasgow and Mount Royal United in Moncton. Vernon was a dedicated blood donor, and always tried to donate the maximum amount allowable each year, until he was no longer eligible to because of his age. Vernon enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and camping. He and Laurine owned several travel trailers over the years, travelling first with their children and later on their own. Fundy National Park was a favourite destination. Always a gentleman, Vernon was quick to hold open a door or pull out a chair. He was kind and considerate and always put the needs of family and others before his own. Entirely self-taught, he could build or repair almost anything, and was in his element when trying to come up with inventive ways to create or fix something. Blessed with a dry sense of humour, Vernon liked to make others laugh. He was also a wonderful storyteller, and particularly enjoyed recounting moments from his early years on the Miramichi. Vernon took great pride in the accomplishments of his two children, Lana (David Meagher) of Halifax and Bradley (Jennifer Sutherland Green) of Fredericton. He enthusiastically volunteered on Bradley’s political campaigns, happily taking responsibility for the sign crew. His grandchildren brought great joy to Vernon’s life, and he loved spending time with them and supporting them in their busy lives. In addition to his parents, Vernon was predeceased by his brothers Emerson and Dale, and his sister-in-law Shirley. He is survived by his wife Laurine, his children Lana and Bradley, his son-in-law David, his daughter-in-law Jennifer, and his grandchildren Colton Meagher, Chad Meagher, Claire Green, Kate Green, and Ella Green. The family would like to thank the staff of Paradise Villa, especially those working on the Tranquility Lane unit, the nurses of the Extra Mural Program, Dr. Naomi White and the staff at her medical office in Oromocto, and Dr. Jill Hudson for the kindness they showed and the care they provided. For those who wish, donations may be made to Saint Paul’s United Church, the Epsilon Y’s Men’s Club Memorial Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice. A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Paul’s United Church in Fredericton on Friday, February 24th, 2023 at 1:30 pm. Those attending the service are asked to please wear a face mask.. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
