Sincere condolences to Jackie and "the boys" in the loss of a husband, father, grandfather and to the extended family as well.
Working for Greg before he 'retired' from the Province was a wonderful time of learning and growth for me. I soon discovered that few could match his intelligence, memory, vision, wit and strong work ethic. He was the kind of leader that brought out the best in a person and always 'had their back'.
As the years rolled by I learned how many people and organizations Greg touched and that were made stronger because of his friendship. Many will miss those quick calls and chance encounters with Greg as he seemed to be everywhere all at once.
Janice and I travelled in music and church circles and often found Greg "working the room" and catching up with everyone that knew him. We will miss him as I know all of you will.

I was sorry to hear of Greg's death. My sincere condolences to the Cook family. I remember working with Greg on several infrastructure projects over three decades while I worked at the provincial Department of Agriculture. I always found him to be very professional and cooperative in his dealings with me and other staff in the Department. I was always confident that I was getting the best possible solution for staff comfort, convenience, and Departmental operations when I sought his assistance. For example, he was particularly helpful in retrofitting the heating system at the Provincial Veterinary Centre in the mid-1990s, a complex project in an older building. As well, I always appreciated his dry sense of humour.

Stunned best describes how I felt when I read this. Greg called me on my birthday last December and as always we had a great chat. I have very fond memories of the two of us hanging around, playing ball and hockey together, goofy things I will save for personal conversations, and driving around in his dad's 64 black Pontiac. Although we went out separate paths during university, I was always happy to see him and he usually had a funny story to tell me based on people we knew or had passed paths with. I think our last meal together was at The Cabin a few years back when I was home for a visit and it was if nothing had changed between us. That is what makes for true friends and I am going to miss him beyond words. To Jackie and the boys, Janet, Karen, Dawn, and Diane, my heart goes out to all of you at the loss of such a great human being. He had grace, which is something we need more of in the world.
May his spirit be with you forever!

Jackie and Family: My deepest condolences are extended to you all. What can I say?? Greg was such a caring, compassionate person who lived his live serving others as well as his Lord! I wanted to express my appreciation to you and the family for the opportunity in which I got to become acquainted to Greg - I am sure you will recall the first time I met him as well Jackie - at Jack and Grace's cottage!! From that time onward i felt as if we developed a definite bond as he was Chair of the Board at Crandall as I become the interim President! I do not think there was a day went by where he did not call me in the morning checking in with me as to how things were going and if there any new developments. I never have seen anyone run a Board meeting like him - in record time!!
Greg had a wonderful sense of humor which I learned to appreciate and also learned quickly form him that his family were his pride and joy!! You his wife and his three sons and the grandchildren he spoke of fondly!
On a more personal note - i will never forget the times he asked about Helen - always referring to her as "The Mrs".
Blessing to you you and your family in the next few days and the days ahead - you will receive much comfort from the comments and people who share many memories with you! Greg certainly touched many lives and his impact will be felt for many years for his work and contributions to Crandall University as well as other committees and Boards he served on. Your church family as well as you folks will feel his loss in the days ahead. Truly cherish the wonderful memories and the times you shared together!

I was deeply saddened to read of Greg's passing. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Always in a good mood, he had a welcoming and disarming nature that put people at ease and made them feel like they were old friends. He was a problem solver extraordinaire with an amazing ability to figure out a solution to a dilemma that may have others scratching their heads for an answer.
I have always had a tremendous respect for Greg and an admiration for his abilities. It was always good to run into him and catch up his next project or hear his take on issues of the day. There was no question that retirement didn't seem to be on his agenda.
Although I may not have known Greg as well as many others, I feel privileged to have met him. His obituary offers a poignant insight into a life well lived of a man respected and loved by many. Please accept my condolences on your loss.
