Obituary of Dale Robert Young

Dale Robert Young of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Rita (McManus) Young, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Fredericton Hospice House.  He was born in Douglas, NB on March 1, 1947, son of the late Robert and Margaret (MacDonald) Young.

Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting and being in the wilderness.  He would spend a few months every year at his favourite hunting spot in Tracy, NB.  In the winter, you would often see him ice fishing on Killarney Lake.  He was a long time and proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, with over 45 years of sobriety.  Dale sponsored many new members to the group over the years.  Dale would often be seen at Tim Horton's on Main Street, chatting with his many friends and having coffee with his wife, Rita, before her passing five years ago.  Dale also loved playing cards with his family and friends and never missed the Thursday night game.

Dale is survived by sons, Brent Phillips and Joseph Young; daughters, Bonnie MacPherson (Laurie), Lori Phillips (Linwood Stevens) and Peggy McCutcheon (Steven); grandchildren, Alicia, Mitchell, Sierra, Neal, Harmony; great grandchildren, Ethan, Joshua, Ellie May, Annabelle, River, Denver and Arlo.  Dale is also survived by one brother, Ted Young; brother-in-law, Alvin Gray, along with nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by sister, Shirley Gray; brothers, Harry Young, Henry Young and Fred Young; sister-in-laws Sandra Young and Louise Young.

A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10 am with Rev.
