Andy Martin was a model of professional integrity. His compassion for all learners was evident in each role he played as an educator. I met Mr. Martin when I attended Teachers College in 1959. He was a coach and a mentor for many students. He taught us to nurture the possibilities in every student and was always there for advice. Andy lived in rhythm with his beliefs, and I am grateful for the imprint he left on all those he taught. My condolences to his family.

To the Martin Family, Mr. Martin taught me in the Physical Education program at Teachers' College in 1957-58 along with Miss Carney. Coming from the small village of Canterbury to T.C. in Fredericton ( on Queen Street ) - quite a learning experience! I still remember Mr. Martin fondly.

Dear Neil, Bruce and all the family,
I was so sorry to read about your father in the paper today. It was my great pleasure to act as his Realtor - I really enjoyed getting to know Andy over the several months leading up to actually listing the family home, and then over the process of the sale. He was a marvel to watch, as he had everything so perfectly organized, and he was so energetic! He sure did belie his years! I had a couple of opportunities to visit him in his new digs before Covid really closed things off. He was quite a guy - interesting life!
Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss.
Sincerely,
Marianne (Doherty) Glover

Our deepest condolences are offered to the Martin family. Andrew was our wonderful neighbour for 44 years. He and Janet warmly welcomed us to Glengarry Place. He was the resident historian of people who had lived on the street. He happily loaned our children his National Geographic magazines for school projects. He gladly shared his rhubarb and raspberry patch. We were lucky recipients of his handmade Christmas cards. He greeted everyone with a smile and a warm welcome. May he Rest In Peace.

My sincerest condolences to Scott, Bruce and all the Martin family. I met Andy when I moved onto Yoho Lake more than 6 years ago. He quickly became my good neighbor and a dear friend. In that short time, Andy was always there to lend me a helping hand...in lots of different ways, both big AND small. I will be forever grateful and mindful of all those memories, including out-rowing me in his double oared boat which put me in physio! But not him!!! He was definitely one of a kind...and certainly a role model for aging well, for many of his "younger" neighbors. I will miss him. Again...my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Susan

I recall after the big hurricane several years ago he was quickly out with his trusted saw to help cut branches that were on the street. I would chat with him occasionally when he was out for a stroll. He is missed on Glengarry.

Andrew Martin grew up in Montreall, not far from where I had my first teaching job. He came to NB to teach in Sackville. Although he hated to leave that beautiful town, he thought it wise to accept the offer of the position of Physical Education instructor at Normal School (Teachers’ College). It was there, in 1960, where I first met Andy. I thought of him to be a fair teacher who demanded the very best from each student.
Andrew Martin was an achiever. His achievements were many and varied. There was nothing he could not do once he set his mind to do it. One of his achievements was the development of the Physical Education program which was used for many years in every public ,school in this province. His was a life well lived
I think of Andy as a fine gentleman, generous, kind, and intelligent. I shall foreverrmore be grateful for his presence in my life.
