I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Doug’s passing. I wish to express my sincere condolences to Florence, Carolyn, Ryan and Carmen during this time of sorrow. He was a wonderful man and a great uncle. As a child I spent much time visiting my grandparents when Uncle Doug lived there and remember him as an intelligent, loving, kind and patient man. I even remember him taking Gram Moore and me into town and waiting in his car while we did our shopping. No matter how long we took he never complained. He will be greatly missed. My love to you all.

My sincerest sympathy to Mr. Moore's family. My interactions with Mr. Moore was mostly done via the phone when he would call into Kirk MacDonald's constituency office after reading an article in the Daily Gleaner. He was such a pleasant man to have a conversation with, at the end of each conversation when I hung up the phone, my thought was always that he was such a pleasant man.

Doug Moore, our next door neighbour, salt of the earth, was a second father to me. He and Florence were like grandparents to our kids; they were always there for us. Whether buying gift cards to support our children’s school, offering advice when buying or fixing numerous vehicles, lending us his snowblower or his truck, putting up with the boys’ forts at the back of his property, and the boys digging a cave under the lower part of his driveway and collapsing the pavement! …they always showed a heart full of love and understanding.
Doug always had such wisdom, whether about politics, world events, or raising the kids. When the boys reached the difficult teen years, Doug was a shoulder to cry on, providing steady, wise reassurance that, “This is just a phase. Those boys are going to turn out just fine”. . . and they did!
Once we were in Florida and had left our Disney tickets at home! Doug was watching the house for us. He was dumbfounded that we could travel to Disney World and leave the tickets behind!! Nevertheless, he went through countless drawers and papers until he found them! … He was always there to save the day.
The attached picture is following my graduation with my masters. My dad was in hospital with dementia, and there was Doug, standing in my Dad’s stead to congratulate me! Whenever I was ready to give up, he was always there, saying “You’ll get it done.”
No one can ever replace you in our lives! There is a huge hole in my heart but I thank God for the years that we had you. We will try to live up to the example you have set for us.
The founder of the “Doug Moore Foundation of Neighbourly Love“ has passed away, but his legacy has changed us forever. :(
Carolyn, Jody, Ryan, Beth, precious Leah, and Carmen, we love you and we are so so sorry for your loss. Our hearts are grieving with you!
Much much love from Heather, Dave, Brittany, Matthew, William, and Buddy.
