Obituary of Harold Burpee Dykeman

 

HAROLD B. DYKEMAN

1936-2021

After a teaching career of 35 years and his married life of 63 years with Donna Anderson, his soul left us on Sunday, January 31, 2021 to go with his heavenly family – his dad, Burpee, his mum, Muriel and his sister, Linda Orchard.

 

Leaving behind his beloved children, Don and Cathy in Ontario and Doug and Claudia in Switzerland and the pride of his life, the best ever grandchildren; Sean and partner Leslie in San Franscisco, Sarah, in Ottawa who chose a career in teaching like her Grumpie,  and a third marvellous grandson Nicholas in Switzerland.  Harold also leaves behind his sister-in-law Monica Reeleder, his brother-in-law Neil Orchard and many awesome nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 

After retirement he enjoyed a much shorter career doing handyman odd jobs for seniors with his friend, Frank Harriet.  They were known as the lightening boys.

 

Besides spending time with his family and many wonderful friends he enjoyed anything to do with boats and trains, his Nashwaaksis Church choir, his volunteering at Pine Grove and at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  He loved camping, fishing, square dancing, driving transport trucks, painting, rug hooking, travel and a really good card game.

 

We will all miss your gentle spirit and the love we shared and we will enjoy the memories we have made together to keep in our hearts.  Till we meet again, all my love.

 

Due to Covid, there will be no service at this time, but instead just write down your favourite memory of him and we will share at a later time.  Harold’s choice of charities would be Fredericton Hospice, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or Ronald McDonald House.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
