Dear Geoff, Robin, Beth, Rowan, And Kirsty,
I will miss Janet so much! How I had prayed for her soul (mind) to be restored here on earth, and how sorry I am that there is yet no cure for Alzheimer's disease. Yet I know that God was with her in unseen ways. With her big smile and caring ways, she demonstrated the Spirit through everyday goodness, kindness, gentleness, and mercy. She always pointed out specific things she liked about every person or "furry" (cat or dog) and noticed all the things the "furry" owner was doing right, while trying to deal with whatever had gone wrong. It was hard on her having her memory fail. She didn't want to let anyone down, particularly Geoff. She cherished her husband and children and grandchildren, and the life they shared. It was no secret how much she loved everyone.
I loved sharing the same name as Janet and being fellow piano players at church -- it made me feel we were best friends there. We shared a love of all kinds of old hymns and folk songs, plus new contemporary praise songs. During her struggle with Alzheimer's, I found a simple song could make her smile -- her favorite seemed to be "You Are My Sunshine." Many songs will forever remind me of her.
I came to know her when I was a mother of two little boys far away from my hometown/birth family, and she was someone who was always kind and helpful as a sister. When we decided to adopt a year-old rescue dog, Cassie, she (and Robin) gave us the guidance and practical help we needed. Our dog ended up thriving and living until 17, and I am grateful for the kindness and help Geoff and Janet gave us at the end of Cassie's life.
I know that you, Geoff and your children, gave Janet all the love and care you could. If there had been a cure for Alzheimer's, you would have tried it. You all reflect so much of Janet's kindness and goodness. I believe that none of it is wasted and that all of it adds to the lasting treasure that you will find when you reunite with her in heaven. God's peace be upon you all.

I knew Janet and her family, from FHS, and when I lived briefly in Mouth of Keswick. She was always a funperson to hang around with. We brought our fluffy cat to her to be put down when we were leaving Canada, and she, tenderhearted as always, decided to keep the cat as a pet. That meant so much to us! We now live in East Africa, and I would like you as a family to know that I will plant a fruit tree (apples don't do so well here, but avocadoes do) in her memory. Grace and peace to you all.

My family had the pleasure of meeting Janet many years ago, at a heart breaking time. Geoff wasn't working that evening, but Janet was there for us. She explained what had happened to our dog and our options. She was patient, kind and even cried with us. I'm not sure who was hurting more at that moment. I speak of Janet always when I talk about the kindest and most loving vet's ever. We miss you to Geoff.

Geoff,
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. The road you have walked with Janet in recent times is a road you have undoubtedly walked well and with great courage. Even though it has been ten years since our last appointment with you at the clinic, we can say this with confidence because of the way you walked with us with such compassion and kindness when we had to say goodbye to our furkid. May you be the recipient of much compassion and kindness in these days ahead. May God bless you and your family with His amazing peace and comfort.

Janet was so thoughtful.
She always had little conversations with Jesse, who would be in the MGC nursery at the same time as Evelyn.
She was/is a thoughtful Person and always so interesting and interested in what you had to say.
She often spoke of her apple orchard and the dam that flooded it when it was built.
We had great talks about chickens, which was something we had a lot of, and how smart they were.
I especially loved how she spoke of how she first met Geoff and that she knew he was someone she wanted so much to be with- it was a nice love story I enjoyed hearing her talk about
My warmest condolences to you all at this time!

Dear Geoff, Robin, Beth, Rowan, Kirsty and families,
What a privilege it has been to have known Janet and you, her much loved family, through the years! Janet was an exceptional and gifted person in so many ways - loving, caring, insightful, thorough, dedicated, hard-working, gentle, loyal, warm-hearted, faithful - and will be missed by everyone privileged to know her.
She had a remarkable and unwavering faith in her Lord who sustained her through the many ups and downs of her earthly pilgrimage in addition to the on-going "made in Heaven" marriage to her loving and beloved husband and her much loved family.
Not only did Margie and I know her as musician, church member, and friend but she assisted Geoff in providing our canine family members with the very best of care to the very ends of their lives. Her caring ways had no limits, human and non-human alike.
We have been with you in thought and prayer through these difficult days. May the Lord grant you His peace, comfort, hope, and strength for now and the days ahead. Janet's recent difficult journey has led her to the place where the grass is green and the waters are still for the Lord is her Shepherd. Surely goodness and mercy has followed her all the days of her life and she will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Love and Blessings to you All,
Brad and Margie

Dear Dr Hampton and Children,
I was shocked to see dear Janet's obituary in the newspaper today. I was so saddened and did not know she was ill.
I wanted to sen a memory I have of Janet. I first met her when she was working in Douglas with Dr. Schnider. Our old cat Fido was not doing so well and she showed so much loving care towards us Allen Selby and I. We cried with her news and she vowed to look after Fido for as long as she could. When Fido's time came she came to the house and put him to sleep. Later we got Winston, another Siamese and she gave him his first real check up as he was an adoption from the SPCA, she always gave him so much loving care and when his time came, again she came to the house and put him gently to sleep. Then came Max, again a siamese and an adoption and she gave him a lot of expert care. When Max had his time in this world we were in London UK and she took him in to the clinic and looked after him for us seeing him to his end. The came kitten siamese brothers Barnes and Hopkins. One day Barnes became suddenly ill and he was not that old. We called Janet at her home and we must have sounded so desperate as she agreed to meet us at the clinic. She again worked her magic. It wasn't until a few months later when Allen was in hospital that I met her in the lobby. we spoke of the "boys" and I told her how lovely it was for her to take us at the clinic. It was then that I learned, to my embarrassment, that Janet was no longer practicing !!!! Still she was not going to see us upset and stuck and drove from home and looked after Barnes.
Janet was an angle and you already know that and when Allen died she got in touch with me to give me some solace.

I'm sitting here remembering the times in years gone by when we were breeding German shepherds. Janet and Geoff were a big part of us being able to raise healthy dogs. Late nights in the back of the clinic, trips out to our farm. Janet and Geoff were an incredible team. Janet had this wonderful combination of being really. really smart and having a tremendous sense of humor. She would gently reassure me if a puppy wasn't doing very well, then flip the puppy over and get it breathing again. A beautiful, kind, compassionate lady. We will all miss you.

Janet and I were great friends when we were kids, new students at Keswick Ridge school. Hopscotch still reminds me of Janet. She was a better piano player than me. I remember in junior high, we were each practising to accompany the school musical. But shortly before the end of rehearsals, I sprained my finger on a volleyball in gym class. She had to do the entire show. Maybe that would have happened anyway. She was the better pianist. Our close friendship ended, as childhood friendships often do, but I remember her fondly. So sorry you had to lose her so soon.
