Obituary of Gerald Boone

The passing of Gerald Austin Boone of Fredericton, NB, husband of 66 years of Mildred (Merritt) Boone, occurred on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at his home. Born on April 9, 1924 in Tay Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Austin and Julia (Leslie) Boone. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in England, France, Holland and Begium. Gerald worked as a Stationary Engineer at NB Power for 29 years. He was a member of the Gibson Memorial United Church and also the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, where he enjoyed the Men’s Chorus. Gerald loved his garden, having coffee at “the bench” and liked to play cards with friends and family. Family gatherings were a favorite for Gerald and everyone was always welcome to join. In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by his children, Ardith Armstrong (Dana Murray), Lorna (Keith) Ball and Doug (Ellen) Boone; grandchildren, Gary Armstrong (Charman), Jennifer Stairs (Greg), Craig Ball (Chrissie McFawn), Deanna Ball (Matt Reicker), Krista Boone and Katie Sharpe (Rob); great grandchildren, Keirra and Kaden Armstrong and Stella Sharpe all of Fredericton, NB; siblings, Greta Spilman of Tay Creek, NB, Bill Boone (Rachael) of Ottawa, ON, Jean Biggs of Middleton, NS; sister-in-law, Bella Boone of Tay Creek, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Freddie Boone; sister, Mary (Paul) Atkinson; brothers-in-law, Don Biggs and Edward Spilman. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:45 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. A Funeral Service will take place at Gibson Memorial United Church on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Cora Krommenhock officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4- Building Fund or the Gibson Memorial United Church. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
