Obituary of Marilyn Colwell

Marilyn Elizabeth Colwell, daughter of the late Eleanor Margaret (Nell) Staples and Walter Fulton Colwell passed away on Wednesday, April 4, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Marilyn worked as a civil servant for the Provincial and Federal Government. Marilyn is survived by her sister, Eileen Gosse of Fredericton, NB and Eileen’s son, Roland (Leanne) and his two children, Andy and Cassia of Red Deer, AB as well as by Roland’s father, Bob Gosse of Calgary, AB; her brother, Stephen (Ingrid) of Scarborough, ON and Stephen’s daughter, Amber (Kevin) Waldrum of Mississauga, ON; two aunts, Eva TerMarsch of Perry Sound, ON and Charlotte Holland of Fredericton, NB; many special cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by a number of special aunts and uncles, on her mother’s side by Charles Staples, George and Ethel Staples, Lillian Brittain, Norman Brittain, Berla and Dennis McSorley; on her father’s side by uncles Samuel Colwell, Weldon Holland, Gordon TerMarsch, Inez and Albert Smith. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11 am with Pastor Terry Woodcock officiating and Pastor Rob Burns and Pastor Bob Dunlop assisting. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to Drs. Colleen O’Connell, Ewa Pniak, Scott Robertson; the nurses and staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital; the wonderful pastoral team and church family at Devon Park Baptist Church; as well as her friends and family for their support – with cards, calls, visits, prayer and so much more - throughout her life and particularly during her journey with ALS. She was truly touched by your many kindnesses – may you know how much this meant and how much she loved each one of you. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the ALS Society.
