Obituary of Allan Richard
The passing of Allan Edgar Richard, husband of Bette (Edwards) Richard of New Bandon, NB occurred on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at his home. Born in Moncton, NB on November 7, 1931, he was a son of the late Edgar and Marjorie (Boudreau) Richard. Allan graduated from the University of New Brunswick, where he played for the varsity hockey team, and went on to a career as an electrical engineer for over 40 years with Montreal Engineering. His career took him on projects around the world with time spent living in Sri Lanka, Rio, Iran, Indonesia and Florida. Allan loved to fish, which helped his decision to finally settle in New Bandon. He was an avid football and hockey fan and also played a good game of crib.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Allan is survived by a daughter, Cathy (Paul) Akerman, of Saint John, NB; two sons, David (Laurie) Richard, of Calgary, AB and John (Georgia) Richard, of Ottawa, ON; nine grandchildren, Julia, Jason, Jonathan, Jennifer, Breanna, Jenna, Mariah, Gavin and Elizabeth; one brother, Reginald (Annette) Richard of Grand Digue, NB and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant grandson, Allan John “AJ” and a sister, Yvonne Smith.
Although there will be no visitation by request, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Allan’s Life at their home, 7817 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
