We are all saddened by the loss of Allan Richard (“Pappy”). We will always remember our Pappy as a man with a kind heart, gentle spirit and endless compassion. Our father, David, will always refer to Pappy as a man who acted with integrity; a strong value that has been instilled in us, through reference and stories, growing up. We heard quoted time after time “people do business with people they respect, trust and actually enjoy working with” – this statement rings true for every relationship and is a genuine testament to our Pappy’s character. We are all proud to see this trait in each of us.
Some of our fondest and most vivid memories of Pappy were during family gatherings and lobster fests out east. With distance being the only separator, we all wish we could be in New Brunswick to celebrate Allan’s life and support family at this time. Now more than ever, we feel Pappy’s spirit closer to us.
With love,
Breanna, Jenna, Mariah & Gavin Richard

I'm sorry to hear this, but wanted to share a memory. We were all tykes in Rio and we all hung out together a lot. One time I decided I'd head back to our apartment down Ave Atlantica by myself after staying with you all. Turns out that my parents, Chris and Eric had taken a day trip to Terisopolis and the maid was off. I was locked out and sitting (crying I think) in front of our door. Al came along after noticing me missing, found me and brought me back. I was always a little afraid of him, but he was warm and gentle and made me feel safe again. Very best wishes to you all.

Dear Betty and Family,
Marg and I are very sorry to know of Al's passing and extend our sympathy.
My memories of Al include meeting him for lunch when he was working at an office near the Toronto airport. I also saw him at his office in Montreal when he was working on the James Bay project.
As you may know there were 3 of us, including Alex Cunningham, as students at Montreal Engineering in the summer of 1954. We sometimes took day trips on the weekend to New York State, visiting Ausable Chasm among other places. Our travel group included Ron Arsenault.
Take care, Grant Boundy
