Mary & family:
So sorry to hear of Mel's passing. Thinking of you all at this sad time.
Mel & I graduated from MFRS in 1963 and have been friends ever since. We exchanged birthday cards and phone calls many times over the years. I delivered his last birthday card to him at York Care Centre even though I had carried it around since February. We had a nice visit but I suspected then it might be the last. Regards to all
Laurie

Dear Mary, Jackie, Lynn Michael and Families
So many great memories of Dear Mel loved to enjoy a good laugh and to tease. Precious Memories of a Great Man. He loved his family and grandchildren so much. Remembering all the trips the boys made snowmobiling to your home and through streams of water... Precious Memories for sure.... Today Mel as Come to experience what his Christian life has been all about. What a glorious hope for one who lived his life in preparation for his Eternal Home... I amso sorry I wasn't able to come to see you all at the Funeral Home. May the God of comfort bring you all Peace, and the assurance of His Presence during this difficult time.

To Mel's family and friends,
I am terribly sorry for your loss.
I had the privilege of working with Mel for several years through the 80's. Mel impressed me with his dedication to the job of District Ranger at the York St. ranger office and his enthusiastic, good natured demeaner. He made it a good work place for me. The ranger union was flexing it's muscles at the time and two week advanced scheduling along with specialization of tasks were becoming a reality. Right or wrong, Mel did not discriminate and continued to pitch in at various tasks that needed doing regardless as to whether they were on his duty list or not. From management of his office and staff to mowing the lawn he was never too good for a task. Mel stayed busy. I particularly appreciated his flexibility with my schedule and was there for him when unscheduled events required action on an enforcement or other issue. When I moved on I would continue to run into Mel in the course of my time with Natural Resources and was always greeted with an enthusiastic grin, kind words and a handshake. I shall carry good memories of Mel with me always, be they of careening down back roads in hot pursuit of a night hunter or exchanging friendly barbs around the office.
