Harriett and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad Herbie. He was a well known and loved man and fire chief of Nashwaaksis. He tended many fires and saved a lot of lives and unfortunately lost a few included some fire fighters. Herbie may you rest in peace. Your work on Earth is done and you are in God's loving hands and with your wife. A lot of your firefighters from the past is with you also.

Herb's passing goes to show that even Heros have to die some time. He was a true Hero , I had the pleasure of being hired by Chief Hawkins and working under him until his retirement. He would never ask anything of his men that he wouldn't do himself, he was a firefighter's Chief always showing up at fires and bad accidents then going to work like the rest of us. I had so much respect for him. RIP chief , you deserve it ! Thank you for all your years of service to the citizens of Nashwaaksis and Fredericton and for the example of dedication and community service .
