To Brian's family and friends,
I knew Brian in high school and first year university and then saw him occasionally when I returned to Fredericton for visits after moving away. I always knew he was a special person, but as I've read the wonderful tributes from the so very many people he touched with his warm and open heart, I have realized he was truly unique. I offer my sincerest condolences and best wishes to his family and friends.

Dear Carty Family,
I heard the sad news about Brian today. He was someone I looked up to in high school for his leadership, kindness, work ethic and quiet toughness. Brian was a true source of inspiration and a role model. Happily we re-connected over email this past year and it was great to touch base with an old friend.
On behalf of my family I send sincere condolences to Brian's family and close friends. Rest in peace and God bless you Brian.

I met Brian while working in the summer student employment center many years ago. He came in to register for summer work and he lit up the place with his warm smile and easy manner.
I was not surprised to learn a short time later, that he was working as a counselor himself. We didn't see each other often over the years that followed, but our brief contacts were always warm and meaningful - he was a man of substance.
His loss will be widely felt - a measure of what he brought into this world.
My sincere condolences to all those who loved him.

Brian was, literally, the nicest guy on the planet. A treat to interact with, always - such a warm, loving, gentle soul, with an excellent sense of humour. A HUGE loss to our university and to our world. "Only the good die young"

Shocked is the word that comes to mind of the early passing of such a young, vibrant person. Brian will be greatly missed by his loved ones, family, friends and just about everyone in the Fredericton area. He was a face a Fredericton. One of the most kindest, gentlest, giving person ever. His laugh will be greatly missed along with his beaming smile.
R.I.P. Brian, I know you will always be the brightest star out there.

Brian Carty - one of the best human beings I've ever met. Kind, compassionate, caring, funny, smart, just about any positive adjective you can think of can be used to describe this man. John, Wendy and family please take comfort in knowing how many lives Brian touched and what a difference he made in this world. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Love to you, Kelly

To the extended Carty family, I offer my sincere condolences at this difficult time. I want you to know how blessed I feel I am to have had Brian as a professor when I returned to school later in life. As has been noted elsewhere, he had a profound influence on me both professionally and academically and was the inspiration to encourage me to pursue further graduate study. While he was admired by all, he helped me find my inner strength and let me feel that I was as important as any other student he ever dealt with whether he might have felt that way or not. That was, I'm sure, just one of his gifts. The world is a better place because he was in it and I hope that time will help heal or take some of the edge off your sorrow in due course.
