Obituary of Brian Hallett

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Royden Hallett at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, July 3, 2017. Brian was born in Fredericton, NB to Hilda (Greer) and Theodore Hallett on July 26, 1942. He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife, Eleanor Wambaugh. Brian leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Barb (Belland); daughters, Heather (Marc) and Erin; brother, Jim (Bonny Hoyt-Hallett); brother in law, John Belland (Charlotte); sister in law, Nancy Browne (Jim); his beloved aunts, Shirley and Evelyn (Dick); uncle Ken and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Brian was an Archivist at the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa, for 34 years. Upon his retirement, he moved back to his “roots” in Douglas and enjoyed the beautiful view of the Saint John River. Brian loved curling, golfing, swimming, biking and gardening. He was an avid historian and the go-to person for all the family genealogies. He was a volunteer at the NB Provincial Archives and the Fredericton Region Museum, as well as a teller for many years at the Douglas Baptist Church. He was the proud recipient of the Martha J. Harvey and the Council of Archives NB volunteer awards. The family would like to thank Dr. Sheldon Wood and the team of doctors at the Uptown Family Medicine Group, the many specialists and the wonderful nursing staff on 3SW, 3NE and 3 E for their excellent care. Although there will be no visitation, the Funeral Service will take place at Douglas Baptist Church, Highway 105, Douglas on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1 pm with Rev. Peter Moore officiating with a reception to follow at the church. Honouary Pallbearers will be Heather Hallett, Erin Hallett, Jeff Hoyt, Jonathan Hoyt-Hallett and Jason Hallett. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Chalmers Hospital Foundation, the Fredericton Region Museum, Douglas Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
