Obituary of Phyllis Urquhart

Life Legacy Phyllis Joyce (Haines) Urquhart passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on June 27, 2017. Phyllis was the daughter of A. Melbourne Haines and Rhoda Bannister, and the wife of William E. Urquhart, who predeceased her in 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Tait (Robert) and Cynthia Urquhart (Paul Wierbicki), both of Fredericton, NB.; grandchildren Robert W. Tait and Catherine Tait (Steven Wood); brother, Bliss Haines (Doreen), as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold, and sisters, Eula and Doris. Phyllis spent her life as an educator and demonstrated the highest level of teaching excellence by making every lesson incredibly interesting. Her love of literature was contagious. When it came to social studies, she was a master story-teller. Her career brought her a great deal of pleasure. Adventurous, fearless and unique in so many ways, she was a world traveller who had visited many continents. It was important to her that she shared her global discoveries with others. We will treasure our memories of her enthusiasm for knowledge, sense of humour, and joy for life. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and support Phyllis received from all her caregivers at Brunswick Hall, Shannex. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from Nashwaaksis United Church, Fredericton, NB on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. J. D. Kennedy officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery.
