Obituary of Bertha Saunders

The passing of Bertha E. Saunders of Fredericton, NB, wife of Gordon Saunders occurred on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 29, 1936 in Wicklow, NB, she was the daughter of the late Mac and Ada (Kearney) Olmstead. Bertha was a retired Elementary School Teacher. She was an active member of Devon Park Baptist Church with a Servants Heart for the Lord. In addition to her husband, Gordon of 59 ½ years, Bertha is survived by her daughters, Connie Logan (Gordon) and Carol Anne Booker (Steve Hampsey); grandchildren, Jessica Hairfield (Adam), David Logan (Brittanie), Emily Logan, Andrew Booker and Scott Booker; great grandchildren, Lincoln Hairfield and Arya Logan; siblings, Barb Crandlemire, Ruth Carlisle, Maxine Saunders and Joe Olmstead (Janet); sisters and brothers in law, Alta Olmstead, Irvine Curtis, Leonard Saunders (Yvette) and Myfanwy Saunders; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her infant son, Roger Gordon Saunders; sister, Mary Alma Olmstead; brother, David Olmstead; sisters and brothers in law, Marion Little (Burns), Marjorie Curtis, Arlene Saunders, Paul Saunders, Ted Carlisle, Glen Crandlemire and John Saunders. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Devon Park Baptist Church on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Terry Woodcock, Pastor Bob Dunlop and Pastor Micah Hiltz officiating. Palbearers are Jessica Hairfield, Andrew Booker, David Logan, Scott Booker, Stewart Saunders and Kim Curtis. Interment will take place in Prince William Cemetery at a later date.
