Obituary of Susan McClellan

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Susan “Sue” Mary McClellan of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Richard “Rick” McClellan. Sue's life ended suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital with her family and friends at her side. Born on June 4, 1952 in New Westminster, BC she was the daughter of the late John “Jack’ and Doreen (Gaube) MacPherson. Sue is survived by her children, Annie Barnwell (Ashleigh) of Calgary, AB, Josh McClellan (Leah) of Fredericton, NB, Martha McClellan (Will) of Fredericton, NB and Ethan McClellan (Kate) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Fiona Barnwell, Eleanor Barnwell and Scarlett McClellan; sister, Jane Runnals (Chris) of Squamish, BC; brother, Robert MacPherson (Janet) of Toronto, ON; sister-in-law, Heather (John Scheigetz) of Montreal, QC; brother-in-law, John McClellan (Diane) of Winnipeg, MN; nieces, Thamason (Josh), Sarah (Jeff), Shannon (Jeff), Wendy and Susie; several cousins, grand nieces, grand nephew, aunt, uncle, and many wonderful friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by cousin, John Gifford and infant nephew, Jeffrey McClellan. As a nurse, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother and, finally, an organ donor, Sue devoted her life and death to looking after others. She will be remembered as a tremendously giving and compassionate person, with a wonderful sense of humour, an infectious laugh, and a heart of gold. Sue will be dearly missed by her dog shaped shadow Pepper, and her longtime friend Dan Ahern with whom she shared many laughs. The family wishes to extend special thanks to our incredibly supportive extended "Fredericton family", the nurses and doctors at the DECH, and the organ donation nurses, Margaret and Victoria. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 7-9 pm and Friday, October 30, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 1 pm with Wilfred Langmaid as officiant. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Morrisburg, ON at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) Fredericton, Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or the charity of the donor’s choice.
