Obituary of John Irvine
It is with great sadness the family of John Richard Irvine announces his passing on September 26, 2015. John passed away in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 6, 1947; the only child of the late Robert John Irvine and Margaret Pearl Irvine. Jungle loved to be known as a “Devon Boy” as his true roots.
John spent the last 40 years as the owner and operator of Mactaquac Convenience and Gas Station; proudly supporting the local community. John was very proud to watch his two daughters, Lesley and Melanie, take over the operations of the store the past few years. He lived a life full of adventure that few people can imagine. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and snowmobile. Any person who was able to be with John during a boondoging run either loved it or never came back. He would often ask if you can feel the “Rush” while towing you out of someplace you should have never followed him into. Jungle spent countless hours preparing for the annual moose hunt in both the Dungarvon and Newfoundland. John cherished his family and was always proud to watch his grandchildren play sports from hockey and football to cross country running.
John is survived by his spouse, Debbie Renouf; daughters, Melanie Amos (Scott Amos) of Scotch Settlement, NB, Lesley Irvine (Scott Silliphant) of Scotch Lake, NB; grandchildren, Alex and Mackenzie Amos, Logan and Jacob Silliphant.
There will be no visitation or funeral service as per John’s request. The family will be hosting a celebration of John’s life at the Moco Kitchen at the Mactaquac Lodge on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm. All are welcome to come and share your memories of Jungle.
