Obituary of Hugh Cameron

Life Legacy Hugh Kenneth Cameron, The Auctioneer, husband of the late Roberta (Donoghue) Cameron passed away in Fredericton, NB on Monday, February 23, 2015. Celebrating his life are daughter, Suellen Ross (Danny) of Taymouth, NB; son, Hugh (Nancy Ketch) of Fredericton and grandchildren Steven Ross, Samuel, Hannah and Eli Cameron who he often captivated with extraordinary stories of his ordinary life. Also survived by his youngest brother, Alan, and a large and dispersed extended family. Born on the family farm in Vernon, Ontario in 1926 to James and Euphemia (Madden), he was first (and always) a farmer and like so many of his generation, a soldier. With careers at Trans Canada Airlines and Air Canada and then with Atlantic Rentals, Hugh only found his true calling at age 55 as an Auctioneer and the owner of his own auction business, Cameron Auctioneers. Proud member of the United Church of Canada, Alexandria Lodge, Shriner, United Commercial Travelers and Charter Member of the Auctioneer’s Association of Canada. He leaves us to join his brothers, Leonard and Daniel; sister, Effie and the love of his life for over 55 years, Roberta, who he often - very often- explained he wanted to marry the day he met her. (She was of a decidedly different mind for an extended period of time). His family would like to thank his Taymouth neighbours and his friends at St. Anne’s Court and the Veterans Health Unit for their care and support in his last few years with us. Pursuant to Hugh’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. Interment at Springhill Cemetery, Vernon, Ontario in the spring. Remembrances may be made through any charity of a donor’s choice. Arrangements provided by York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton.
