Obituary of Raymond Cormier
Raymond Cormier, faithful disciple of Christ in the charism of St. Francis, passed to his eternal reward on May 7, 2014 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton after long suffering from cancer and multiple sclerosis. He was employed with the Federal Government’s Canada Manpower in Moncton, Newcastle, and Fredericton. He was a member of the Fraternity of John XXIII of the Secular Franciscan Order, a third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and an active member of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church. In addition to his wife of 39 years, Pauline (Bohan); he is survived by son Kevin of the Society of Jesus; his son Andrew and wife Zandra (Lebite) with granddaughter Samantha; and Paul of the Fraternité Monastique de Bethléem. Born in Halifax on February 13, 1938, Raymond was the eldest of the three children of the late Alphonse (d. 1990) and Edith Louise (Mills) (d. 1960) Cormier. He is survived by his brother Ronald (Sandra), his sister Mary (Paul) Nasipak, and his stepmother Anne (Kehoe) Cormier. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. He is predeceased by June, his niece and godchild, and his aunts and uncles. His wake will be on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6-9 pm at York Funeral Home, Fredericton. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10 am at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Fredericton. Interment will take place at Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery, Barnaby River on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 3 pm. Remembrances may be made to St. Theresa’s Church.
