I was shocked and saddened when a colleague forwarded me the news of Janice's passing late last night. I first met Janice when I was hired to teach part-time at STU and had no place to "be" between classes. Janice taught the class just after me and when she realized I had no office space, immediately insisted that I share hers. We had a lot of fun in that office that semester! We spent hours talking about everything and nothing all at the same time. More recently, I had the pleasure to work closely with Janice again in her role at the Department of Education. Over the years, our paths crossed often.Whenever we met, I left our conversations with a smile as after we had a few minutes to solve all the educational problems of the world, we would take the time to catch up on the "news" from one another and our families. Janice spoke so fondly of her family - especially her "angel babies" Ethan and John. My thoughts are with you during this time of great loss.

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of Janice. I came to know her when she first began teaching at STU and I was then Vice-President (Academic). She was a treasure: a marvelous teacher, a great colleague, and a delightful person. STU was fortunate to have her as a professor, and I personally was fortunate to know her as a truly fine person.

Janice was a life long friend to a group of "UNB girls", among whom I was blessed to be a member. Although I had known Janice since grade school, it was as a UNB student and fellow colleague in the UNB Biology department that we became close friends and formed the group of girls that met monthly for many years to reconnect and share experiences and much laughter over dinner. For each of us, Janice was such an inspiration in so many ways. She was such a beautiful, giving and generous person. My life has truly been enriched to have been friends with such a wonderful person whom I will truly miss. Helen, my sincerest condolences to you, Elaine, Dean and your family. Pat

To Janice's family,
I met Janice when I was working in the Biology Dept. She became a dear friend and welcomed me to the Moore clan. I visited the family often in Penniac. I always admired Janice for her intelligence, her sense of curiosity, her sharp wit, and most of all, her generosity. She was always doing for others. I hadn't seen Janice in many years, and just this summer I stopped by Dean and Marlene's to say hello and find out where Janice was and what she was up to. I didn't find out, as no one was home. I'm so sad I wasn't able to reconnect. I'm so sorry for your loss and offer you my heartfelt sympathy. May happiness, love and beauty live on in your memories and bring you peace.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Janice's passing. I am happy we had a great lengthy conversation when I was in Fredericton last winter, never dreaming it would be the last time we would talk. There are way to many memories to list on this page... so many trips spent on that road back and forth between our place and yours in Penniac. Her wonderful spirit, sense of humour and special talents will be missed by so many. Janice,if we could have one more conversation,we would laugh and tell stories and I would tell you how the important your friendship was to me and how lucky I was to have had you in my life. RIP my dear friend.

Professor Ross W. Wein, now retired from University of Alberta
Professionally, it is a shock when a student predeceases a professor. Janice was an undergraduate and then my graduate student in Biology at UNB. She then tirelessly supported me and many other graduate students and researchers at the UNB Fire Science Centre. These researchers, now scattered around the world, owe her much for her support professionally and also personally.
Personally, Janice will be missed by our family. She almost adopted our children. She showed us the highlights of her family homes in Penniac. She visited us in Australia while we were on Sabbatical leave from UNB. Her photography graces our home. As late as a few months ago her generosity was extended to our grandchildren. She has many friends and our family was proud to be counted among that large group.
On behalf of our family and her UNB associates, I wish to express my sympathy to her extended family.

To Elaine and all Janice's family,
I feel extremely sad knowing that Janice is no longer with us. She was so giving, talented, supportive, humorous, and above all, loving to all her family. I called her last May to have a chat and my plan was to call again once I was settled in my new home which just happened 3 weeks ago but now that cannot happen, which is so heart breaking. Janice was so special to our staff at Keswick Ridge and she will be truly missed by all. I am thinking about all of her family who are grieving deeply.

Janice was a dear friend and colleague. She was an excellent teacher and mentor to countless education students at St. Thomas University. Over the years that she worked at STU we all benefited from her expertise and advice. We were very fortunate to have her on faculty. Janice’s beautiful photographs of flowers are still proudly displayed in our classrooms and offices. Her red pepper jelly was a holiday treat I looked forward to and the baked goods she brought to faculty meetings were a delight. In December she donated a lot of her private book collection, especially in the areas of math and science, to our students. So even while not working at STU she continued to mentor and support our students. Janice was a sincerely caring individual who I will deeply miss. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with your family.
