When people asked how Nancy and I met, she loved to tell them it was through "internet knitting". We loved the look of confusion that would come over their face!
We initially connected through the Rowan forum, and then met in person at a workshop in Holmfirth.
Nancy and I visited each other for weekends and she loved coming to Scotland and feeling a connection with her Scottish roots.
We went on holiday together to India with her church group, and to Cyprus and shared so much fun and laughter on these trips. I have some great photos and memories to remind me of the good times.
Rest in peace, dear friend.

Nancy and I shared eighteen years of our lives together and through her I met her lovely mother and her sister Gwyn who became my sister. She always enjoyed our travels around North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East and, as others have commented, she always coped with any situation with a smile and encouraging comments.
Nancy was instrumental in supporting my daughter Caroline who came to live with us when aged 15 years and always guided her with kindness throughout her teenage years and later, staying in touch with her until recently. She also was kind and helpful to my son Douglas.
We parted amicably 22 years ago, with Nancy returning to Canada, and we kept in contact as she was always keen to know how the children were doing and, later, Douglas's children.
I attach a couple of photos of Nancy, one in an English country garden in September 1991 and the other in St. Mary's Church, Buckden in September 2002, a church and congregation she loved.
You are a good soul Nancy, enjoy your rest. Barry.

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Nancy's passing.
On safari in Tanzania with her and Barry in 2001 we stopped at a Maasai village. Nancy asked, in a regal fashion, of a nearby young man dressed in crimson and carrying a spear, "And what do you do for a living?" He replied, "I'm a Maasai warrior." Without batting an eyelid, Nancy continued to gaze upon local artifacts and jewellery!

I met Nancy shortly after she returned from the UK at my little yarn shop in downtown Fredericton and we became instant friends. Her knowledge was incomparable and her kindness profound. She helped me so much over the years and I will never forget her generosity and her amazing sense of humour. I’m so sorry to read of her passing. I hope you’re surrounded in cashmere, Nancy!❤️

Dearest Nancy, you were beautiful in so many ways for me, thank you for being a part of my life. You had a profound impact during the teenage years. I still think you did the best eggs ever. It is difficult to know what to write. I never got the chance to introduce you to my kids, you would have loved them. Sleep well, Nancy, all my love, Doug x
