Obituary of Donald Leger

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The family of Donald (Don) Leger are sad to announce his passing on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 after a brief illness. Don was predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Flynn) in 2020 after 64 years of marriage. Known as Dad, Grampie Don and also “The Grump”, he is survived by his children, Charlene Barron, Bob (Janice) Leger and Michael Leger; grandchildren, Richelle Noble (Brian), Jennifer Noble, Timothy (Brittany) Noble, as well as great grand children, Brody Hudson, Kaylin Hudson (Zane), Gavin Yeo and Ainslee Noble. Also survived by sisters in law, Sheila (Jim) Bartlett and Linda (Jim) Fenwick, as well as several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by sister in law, Ina (Ernie) MacFadzen and brother in law, Rick (Eleanor) Flynn.

Being involved in the Sport of Candlepin Bowling from a young age, one of the highlights of Dads long bowling career was his induction into the International Hall of Fame for Candlepin Bowling in 1993 as well as serving as President of the NB Candlepin Bowling Association for many years.

Dad retired at any early age after 35 years with the Department of Natural Resources but was never one to sit idle. He enjoyed spending time with friends, old and new at the Fredericton City Club. Dad was extremely proud of his children, grand children and great grand children and will be missed by us all.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of York Funeral Home. At Don’s request there will be no public visitation or service at this time. Interment will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the IWK or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
