Obituary of George Robert Williams

With great sadness, the family of George Robert Williams, husband of Lena “Nellie” (Kelly) Williams of Fredericton, NB, announce his sudden and unexpected passing on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on November 18, 1952 in Pickering, ON, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Ella (Hunt) Williams.

 

George graduated from the Survey Engineering program at the University of New Brunswick.  He surveyed in many areas of Alberta, British Columbia and the North West Territories before owning and operating his own business, George Williams Land Surveying, in Vancouver, BC., until his retirement.  He was a member of the BCLS and CLS.

 

He enjoyed spending time with family and having them close by, playing board games, cribbage and always cards.  He and Nellie enjoyed road trips, short and sometimes long.  Once they traveled from the west coast to the east coast, visiting relatives in several cities along the way.

 

In addition to his wife of 52 years, George is survived by his "darling daughter ", his words, Carolyn McAffee (Tony) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Anthony McAffee (Samantha) and Mitchell McAffee; siblings, Allan Williams (Teena) of Chilliwack, BC, Sandra Williams of Calgary, AB, Susan Menard (Harvey) of Grand Prairie, AB, several nieces and nephews.


Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Winifred Kelly.


Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton. Following George’s wishes, there will be no public services at this time. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Greener Village Food Bank, Fredericton. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
