Obituary of Donna Christine Wilson

With great sadness, the family of Donna Wilson, wife of Irvine Wilson, announce her sudden passing on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at their home in Tay Creek, NB. Born on July 7, 1961, in Fredericton, she was the daughter of Dorothy and the late Gerald MacKinnon.  

Donna worked as an Educational Assistant at the Stanley Consolidated School for 22 years, where she also assisted with the breakfast program before starting her work days. She was an active member of the United Church in Tay Creek and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and Treasurer for many years. Her family meant the world to her, from radio bingo with her mother every Wednesday, to celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations. Donna was known and loved for her generosity, kindness, and community spirit and her passing will be felt deeply by all who knew her.

In addition to her mother and loving husband of 36 years, Donna is survived by daughters, Dianne MacDonald (Jon Lagace) of Fredericton, Mary Verrill (John Ledden) of Geary, Sara Wilson of Fredericton; granddaughter, Abigail MacDonald of Fredericton; sisters, Brenda (Emmett) Henry of Fredericton, Anna Doiron of Nashwaak Bridge; brothers, Darrell (Patty) MacKinnon of Woodlands, David (Marsha) MacKinnon of Keswick Ridge, Wayne (Mandy) MacKinnon of Tay Creek, Ronnie MacKinnon of Meductic; several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Marley.

In addition to her father, Donna was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Dennis Doiron and her first husband, Kevin Verrill. 

Visitation will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon Macleod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 12 – 2pm, a Private Family Service will follow with Rev. Chris Walker officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to The Just Friends Food Bank in Stanley, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
