The entire community has lost a gem. I am honoured to be able to call Donna a co-worker as well as a beautiful friend. Donna used to always say that she was learning right along with all of the students she assisted. However, she had no idea what she gave each and every one of them. From heading into that school at the crack of dawn each morning to prepare breakfast for them (complete with homemade donuts on special occasions), giving a warm hug when needed, giving that boost of encouragement that everyone needs, and to doing what Donna did best - being a genuine friend. Donna never backed down from a challenge. Her contagious smile radiated every room she entered. We will miss our breakfast dates and those drive through chats. Our thoughts are certainly with Irvine, Sara, Mary, Dianne, Abbie, Dorothy, and the entire MacKinnon and Wilson families.

Dear Donna touched the lives of so many. She used to say so many times that she was learning right along with the students she worked with, but she had no idea the huge impact that she had on so very many children. From arriving early and preparing breakfast for them to giving them a smile and hug when they needed it, and of course surprising them with those world famous donuts on special occasions. She never backed down from a challenge. She gave so much of herself. Donna was there for all. She gave everybody exactly what they needed - a genuine friend! One that we will miss dearly. We will cherish the memories of our time at work, breakfast dates, with you & Irvine, and your contagious laughter and smile. Thoughts are with Irvine, Mary, Dianne, Abbie, Sara, Dorothy and the rest of the MacKinnon family.

To her siblings, children and husband, I’m so sorry. It’s so hard to go on each day without her. God bless you all.
