The passing of John “Garth” MacLean of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his home. Born on May 6, 1952 in Hamilton, ON, he was the son of the late John Roy and Joan Mary (Hartley) MacLean. Garth worked for airport ground operations in Toronto and the Iqaluit Airport. He had a passion for collecting art, loved music, attending and hosting friends at the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, travelling and time with friends. Garth was the glue that held his network of friends and family together. He was always in contact with everyone. Garth did not have a family of his own but was “Uncle Garth” to his grand nieces and nephews.
Garth is survived by his brother, Ian MacLean (Beverley Smith) of Fredericton; sister, Kim Scruton (Dave) of St. John's, NL; nieces and nephews, Mike (Ashley) Scruton, Steve (Amanda) Scruton, Sarah (Jordon) Dudley, Winston (Shannon) Hansen.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday, December 31, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to any SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
