Obituary of Terry Duguay

The family of Terry Duguay of Fredericton, NB, are saddened to announce his passing on November 1, 2023. Born on December 13, 1948 in Campbellton, NB, he was the son of the late Harry and Kathleen (Swindon) Duguay.

Terry was a dedicated teacher and mentor to many students over his 33-year career at both Campbellton Junior High and Sugarloaf Senior High. He was a well recognized basketball coach in New Brunswick and loved to share his passion for the game with both boys and girls teams. He was happiest when he had a station wagon full of kids on their way a sport adventure or when asked to open the school gym for anyone to play a pickup game.

When not teaching or driving his kids and their friends around, he could be found on the golf course, bowling alley, curling rink, or at many other sporting events.

Terry met the love of his life and future wife Shirley while attending Teachers College in Fredericton in 1968. Thirty-five years and three kids later, they moved back to Fredericton to spend their retirement. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren, especially his annual trip to Halifax with his kids and grandkids to watch basketball.

Terry is survived by wife Shirley (Fletcher) Duguay, his sons, Shawn Duguay (Natalie) of Dieppe, NB and Michael Duguay (Claudia) of Halifax, NS; daughter, Kim Gray (Richard) of Fredericton, NB; brothers, Danny Duguay (Karen) of Sussex, NB and Donald Duguay (Suzan) of Campbellton, NB; sister, Debra Duguay of Oshawa, ON; grandchildren, Carson Duguay, Olivia

Duguay and Corey Gray; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his, brothers Raymond and Roger Duguay.
