Obituary of Georgina Audrey Poulin
Please share a memory of Georgina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The passing of Georgina Audrey Poulin of Fredericton, NB occurred on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on May 30, 1935 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Melissa (Lyons) Neilson.
Georgina was predeceased by her husband, John in 2018 after 61 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Harry, Paul, Peter, Willis and James; by her sisters, Mary, Inez and Edith; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra. She is survived by her three children, Michael (Cat) of Chatham, ON, Peter (Heather) of New Maryland, NB and Lynn (Diane) of Ottawa, ON. She is also survived by her brother, Carl (Donna) Neilson of Charters Settlement, NB. She also adored and will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, Ryan (Monica), Megan (Jason), Scott (Brianna), Lauren and Alicia. She also had four great grandchildren who gave her incredible joy; Jonathan, Sophia, Benoit and Clara. They were all recipients of Georgina’s wonderful knitting skills. Many nieces and nephews will also mourn her passing. She had many friends in the community; her dear friend Barb Marks was like a sister to Georgina and was dearly missed after her sudden passing in May on Georgina’s birthday.
Her greatest passion was her music. She taught piano from 1959 to 2023 and gave the gift of music to hundreds of her students in Fredericton. This gave her endless joy. In 2016, she was the proud recipient of a City of Fredericton’s Unsung Heroes Award. Georgina truly lived to serve others. She loved to bake and there was never a time when a guest entering her home was not offered a freshly baked treat. Her turkey dinners and fresh rolls will be greatly missed. She was active her whole life at Christ Church Parish Church and in spite of declining health, she rarely missed a Sunday Service. Her friends and choir mates, she cherished. Georgina was an inspiration to all – her positive outlook never waivered. She will live on in our hearts forever; “We love you to the moon and back mom”.
The family would like to thank the Pastoral staff from Christ Church Parish – John Sharp and Wandlyn Snelgrove for the visits, prayers and support provided to Georgina and her family. We would also like to express our thanks to the special nurses and support staff at the Oromocto Public Hospital and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital who gave her such loving care over the past ten months.
