With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Faye Evelene Griffin, wife of William “Bill” Griffin of Boiestown, NB on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bloomfield Ridge on July 23, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ivy (McAllister) Bruce. Faye was raised in Taxis River. She fell in love with her high school sweetheart and after graduating from UMHS in Boiestown, went to the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1958. She began work in the recovery room of the Moncton Hospital, was a General Staff Nurse at the Victoria Public Hospital as well as Junior Evening and Night Supervisor of the hospital. She worked most of her career as an RN-2 at York Manor Nursing Home from 1968-1991, Faye was a caring nurse who treated every patient as her family member. A very detail driven lady, she balanced rules and requirements with care and compassion. She taught these skills to many in the Community College course on “Being a Geriatric Aide” and “Nurses Aide”. She loved teaching these classes so much. She has always been a nurse to her core and remained the one her family relied on for advice.

Faye had a passion for travel, writing, researching and reading. She loved tending to her indoor and outdoor flowers, bird watching and strolling the beach. She adored “her Bill” and loved playing with the little ones. Her babies and their babies lit up her days. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital Emergency and SICU at Saint John Regional Hospital. Your kindness and genuine caring were felt by us all.

In addition to her loving husband, Faye is survived by her son, Keith Griffin (Liann); daughter, Jill Haley; four cherished grandchildren, Peter (Arlo) and Will (Katie) Griffin, as well as Jeremy (Alexandra), Josh (Laura) Haley and their father Rick Haley; great-granddaughter, Audrey; with a second great-grandchild on the way; sister Hazel Norrad; loving nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Faye was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Pond; nephew, Wayne Pond.
