Obituary of George Walter Wood

The passing of George Walter Wood of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Barbara “Pat" (Vivian) Wood, occurred on June 4, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 21, 1928 in Devon, NB, he was the son of the late George Walter and Maud Alice (Elliott) Wood. 

George is survived by his sons; Bruce Wood (Ann) of Fredericton, Gary Wood (Linda) of Fredericton, and Laurie Wood (Debbie) of Riverview, grandsons; Taylor Douglass of Fredericton, Samuel Wood of Halifax, Andrew and Alex Wood of Riverview, granddaughters; Megan Douglass, Sara Wood, and Lindsay Wood all of Fredericton.

George worked as an Entomologist for the Canadian Federal Government. After retirement, he was WBANA Executive Director, known as the "Blueberry Doctor", gardener, and a member of the Nashwaaksis Y's Men, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. He was a world traveler, for work and pleasure. He was proud to live at home until his final days, with the help from phenomenal care workers.

A Graveside Service will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery, Fredericton, New Brunswick on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 1 pm with Rev. Paul Ranson officiating.
