Obituary of Michael Frederick Dawson

It is with broken hearts that the family of Michael “Mike” Frederick Dawson originally of Gander, NL, announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at home in Fredericton at the age of seventy-three. Mike is survived by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Donna (Greening); his daughters, Carole Ann (Robert), Kelly (Shawn), and Cathy; and his five grandchildren, Jacob, Anthony, Sarah, Clare, and Quinn. Mike is also survived by his siblings, Larry (Michele), Pam (Marv), Brian (Kay), and Joanne (Bryan); beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, and honorary daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Krista, Dave, and Ethan Nantau. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Hilda; and his younger brother, Terry.

Building on his successful 40-year career in financial services, upon retirement, Mike followed his passion and with an enterprising spirit started two successful businesses. As an active community member, he volunteered extensively with the Chamber of Commerce and served on the Fredericton YMCA Board of Directors, including as President.

Mike and Donna loved to travel and visited many destinations around the world. Mike and Donna enjoyed entertaining friends, playing cards, dancing, barbecuing, and hosting pool parties in the backyard.

The family welcomes those who knew Mike and his family to join them for a celebration of his life at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11 am.
