So many memories of Mike. Here are a few of them.
Paulette and I were in Corner Brook on tour many years ago and stayed with Donna and Mike. We had to catch a flight to Halifax from Deer Lake in the evening. Mike said, "oh we have plenty of time", stay a little longer. Well, guess what, we missed our flight and had to stay another night." I'm sure it was on purpose." Such great hosts, we really enjoyed our stay.
Another memory was when Mike and Donna came to Nashville and wanted to visit the winery owned by Kix Brooks , the county singer(Brooks and Dunn), so we drove to Arrington, TN. Mike bought a bottle of their wine along with some crackers and cheese. We sat on the front porch and drank the full bottle of wine. Another great time of love and laughter.
The latest great memory was when Mike and Donna attended our daughter, Sherida's wedding in Nashville in 2010. Donna's sisters and family also came, Sharon and Mike, Kim, Jim and kids. It was a very special time.
We're gonna miss you buddy, you were one of the best.

Mike you were definitely a one of kind awesome man. Your family took me in as if I was one of your own. I’ll never forget how much you helped me out when I lived in Fredericton….a man that loved good scotch and a game of pool. Sending our love from Newfoundland to Donna, Kelly, Cathy, Carol Ann and family. ❤️

It was with great sadness that I heard my friend and coworker had passed.
There are many stories I could tell you about Mike from our days in the Bank in Fredericton--at the many golf tournaments and curling events we attended; doing exercises at the YMCA; raising money for the YMCA; shooting pool at Dooley's; the many parties we attended both at the Bank and elsewhere; having our own reserved table at the Dock Tavern with our group's picture at the end of the table and overall, enjoying life...but I'm not telling any of these stories.
After we retired, Mike also attended a couple of my fishing trips in Eden Lake with 2 other Bankers and a couple of my friends. Mike made the mistake the first year of volunteering his van for one of the trips out to a local lake. The van was spotless when we left the house, but it returned with worms on the floor, hooks stuck in the carpet, mud all over it and the smell of trout everywhere! Just to make matters worse, Mike's good fishing rod got broken on that trip. That was the last time he let us use his van.
Mike was a very good friend, devoted husband and father. We will miss him.

Donna and family there are no words to make the grief better for you guys. This is truly a great loss while we didn’t see each other as often as we would like the love was great. One of my fond memories of Mike is when he won a contest which consisted of clothing he was so proud of his clothes he bought a lock so myself and Brian couldn’t take them. Mike had the bottom drawer so we took the drawer above out and got into his clothes. He was not happy when he found out what we were doing. Funny story. Mike would laugh at it now. Love to you all. “ Remembrance of Mike from his childhood best friend, Bob “
I remember the good old days when we were younger and carefree. So many good times together partying, camping, learning to drive ( on a standard transmission), movies at the old Crescent Theatre and sneaking into clubs while under age. One memory stands out : Mike and I were out drinking ( a little too much) and when he went home, his mother, met him in the kitchen. Because Mike was laughing and joking so much, she ( Hilda ) said you bugger - you’ve been drinking ! No Mom - I haven’t ! Then she replied - “ let me smell your breath ! So ….. Mike held his breath !
That didn’t work - he was grounded - too funny !
Another time, before marriage, we went to Springdale for a party. Jeanette, teaching in Botwood was picked up by Mike, who worked in Grand Falls. I was working in Deer Lake and went to Corner Brook to pick up Donna.
We all met in Springdale for the weekend. Fine Party !
Later, on Sunday afternoon, a snow storm hit so Mike headed east with Jeanette and I headed west to Corner Brook with Donna. What a storm ! When I dropped off Donna in Corner Brook, I headed back to Deer Lake and slid off the highway in Steady Brook. One of the locals put me up for the night and helped me the next day to get my car back on the road to head back to Deer Lake. “ An out-of-town party to remember !”
Another time; still with all of us working in different towns - we met and rented Bill’s Tourist Cabins for the weekend in Pasadena. We partied, cooked up meals and played lots of fun games! Lots of good memories.
Fun trips to Port Blandford, small town of Terra Nova and Terra Nova Park camping.
“ So many good times with Mike and Danna ! “
Mike, my best friend while growing up in Gander - you will be truly missed !
- Love - Bob and Jeanette Carter

We were lucky enough to enjoy some of Mike’s Summer Pool parties. Swimming pool in the backyard and Snooker Pool downstairs. Always a great host with many great stories to share, especially about the memorabilia’s in his man cave. I am lucky enough to also own some of Mikes Prize Tools from his workshop. I could see that it was hard for him to part with them when selling them to me. I often think of Mike when I use them and how well he had his tools organized. Cheers to you Mike and sending much love to your family.

The first time I met Mr Dawson was in Maine on vacation where my brothers and I became friends with his daughters while camping. He was a man to be admired and a gentle soul for all who knew him and his family was everything to him. He will be greatly missed as the friendship over the years never faltered and my first trip to Canada was to his home he graciously opened his doors to me while I visited for the weekend for his daughter Kelly’s birthday. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family
during this tremendous loss. All my love to this amazing family.
