He is survived by his wife of 61 years, and his two sons, Andrew (grandson, Matthew) Robert (Jennifer Norris, grandchildren Peter and Sarah); brother, Malcolm (Joyce Walsh and several nieces and nephews) Born January 15, 1934 in Fredericton, Don served in the United Church of Canada for most of his working life. He did divinity training in Edinburgh, Yale Divinity School and Dalhousie University. He was a university chaplain at Dalhousie from 1968-1979, after which he worked at the Atlantic Christian Training Center in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia for 9 years. He was greatly blessed with his involvement at these posts and made many lasting friendships. After retirement, Don remained highly active in engagement, spirituality, and friendship at Wilmot United Church especially the Lectionary Bible conversation group and the Seekers group. A passionate naturalist and lover of wilderness, Don canoed and fished many of the lakes and rivers of New Brunswick throughout his life. In his later years, one of his many passions was coordinating the Canadian Lakes Loon Survey Program (Birds Canada) at the Magaguadavic Lakes. He is already greatly missed. During Don's illness he has been truly blessed by his men friends group with their loving support and visits. We can never thank John Coates for all the support and great help he was to Don and Lois. The beautiful burial urn was made by John in loving memory of Don.
