Obituary of Lou Stillwell
Stillwell, Llewellyn (Lou) Shirley
With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Lou Stillwell of Fredericton.
Lou was born in Young's Cove, NB, on January 26th, 1930 and he passed away exactly 93 years later on January 26th, 2023. He was the son of the late Stanley and Mabel (Cross) and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ingrid (Küsel); children, Tom and Evelyn (Paul); grandchildren, Minna and Isak; sister, Lois. He was predeceased by his brothers Alton (“Bud”) and Eugene; sister, Yvonne.
Lou spent 30 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, which included three postings to Germany where he met and married his wife, Ingrid. He loved music and played in several country bands in New Brunswick. He also loved animals and the outdoors, especially the area around Grand Lake. After retiring from the work force, Lou spent 10 years as a volunteer for the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Fredericton Veterans Health Unit for the loving care they provided in the final years of Lou's life.
Per Lou's wishes, there will be no funeral service, but a small graveyard ceremony will be held in the future for family members and close friends.
