MOORE, FLORENCE “FLO” RITA

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence “Flo” Rita Moore at York Care Centre, Fredericton, NB on January 26th, 2023.  Predeceased by her parents, Harry Brown and Beatrice Ellen Brown (Wilkes), both born in England, she is also survived by her three children, Carolyn (Jody beloved son in law) Ryan and Carmen as well as her cherished granddaughter Leah. She leaves behind her brothers, Harry (Evangeline), Frank (Gerry) and Wayne (Colleen).  She also leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who all loved her so much.

Florence was born May 4th, 1940, in Penniac, New Brunswick, in the “house on the hill”.  She lived most of her life in Penniac where she enjoyed raising her family.  In her later years, she moved to Regiment Creek where she continued to make friends, quickly becoming a favourite in the neighborhood.  She enjoyed daily walks on the trails with her husband Doug; chatting with people they met along the way.

As a caregiver, She raised generations of neighborhood kids who tell stories of her playful nature, often singing with them (albeit if off key), playing school or exploring the woods and fields. Everyone who knew Flo has a story to tell about how seen and valued she made them feel.  She was extremely witty, kind and a favourite of adults and children alike. Flo was at her very best when she was entertaining kids and spending time with family and friends.

We are all left with fond memories that will make us chuckle.   Every time we hear a badly told joke, a Merle Haggard or George Jones song, see a lady slipper or a pileated woodpecker, we will think of her.   Flo had a way of always seeing the best in people and we all certainly know she was the best.  She faced Alzheimer’s with grace and courage and never once complained.

To respect Flo’s wishes there will be no funeral or service.  In her honour we invite you to donate to the York Care foundation or the Alzheimer’s society. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
