Obituary of Carol Alfreda Murphy

It is with heavy hearts our family announces the passing of our Mom, Carol Alfreda Murphy of Fredericton, NB on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on January 14, 1938, in Chipman, NB, she was a daughter of the late Orland and Ida (McAfee) Fidler. 

Carol dedicated her life in caring for others from an early start at the Saint John Orphanage. She continued her dedication to caring for her Mother until her passing. She also cared for an abundance of children and the elderly over the years. She loved quilting, puzzling, Scrabble, Skip-Bo, reading, watching movies, drives, and spending time with family and friends all whilst consuming endless amounts of ice cream. 

Carol is survived by her children, Daryl Hargrove (Donna) of Ottawa, ON, Dwayne Hargrove (Sandra) of Burton, NB, Donald Hargrove (Corlene) of Chipman, NB and Melanie Hargrove (Reg) of Fredericton, NB; Grandchildren, Patricia Arrowsmith (Charles), Amy Genge (Jeff), Lindsay Hargrove, Kristen Hargrove (Georges), Joshua Hargrove (Molly), Jessica Pitre (Eric), Veronique Pitre (Brandon), Vanessa Pitre (Tyler); Great Grandchildren, Zachary, Morgan, Madison, Sophie, Adonai, Rhoen, Lucas, Hudson, Sullivan, Abigail, Jack, Grace, Harrison, Olivier and Alexis; Siblings, Judith Clarke of Chipman, NB, Stanley Fidler (Lorna) and Lynwood Fidler (Grace Anne) both of Chipman, NB; and several nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her first husband, Maurice Hargrove and her second husband Ernest Murphy; grandson, Christopher Hargrove; siblings, Vance Fidler and Geraldine Keillar; and aunt, Muriel Glenn. 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 2 pm with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Interment will take place in Chipman Baptist Cemetery, Chipman, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family had requested donations be made to Pine Grove Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.  The family would like to thank all Staff at Pine Grove Nursing Home for their care and compassion shown to Carol, and to Melanie as well, during her time there.
