Obituary of Roberto Florean

Please share a memory of Roberto to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Roberto Florean announces his passing on November 25, 2022 at Hospice Fredericton.

Roberto was born on May 22nd, 1959 in Sequals, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1961. In 1963, the family settled in Fredericton.

Over the years, Roberto forged many great friendships in the Fredericton and Grand Lake communities whether through school, his lifelong love of sports, his workplaces or within his family. Whether known as son, brother, husband, father, zio/uncle, friend, colleague or coach, he will always be remembered fondly and his sense of humour missed terribly.

Roberto leaves behind his wife, Kelli Greene, and son Harrison Florean, his brother Luigi Florean (Joan), father-in-law Glen Greene (Joan), sisters in law Marilyn Swan (Donald), Glenda Greene (Forrest Orser), Cynthia Greene, as well as nephews and nieces Leah (Adam Bowie), Justin Florean, Sean (Bianca) Swan, DJ (Kathy) Swan, Michael (Stephanie) Swan, Sheri (Stephen Richard) Ross Greene and numerous great- nieces and nephews. Roberto was pre-deceased by parents Maria and Romeo Florean, his mother-in-law Dora Hunter Greene, brother-in-law Vincent Greene and nephew Clark Greene

Roberto lived in Ottawa for a period of time but, like his parents, he eventually chose to make Fredericton his home where he quickly reconnected with those from his basketball community and other friends.

He derived his biggest joy from being a father to Harrison. Roberto loved spending quality time with him while driving to and from football or basketball games. Harrison was always his greatest source of pride.

We would like to thank our family, friends, Extra Mural nurses, Hospice, Jean Coutu pharmacists, BMO Main Street and the community for their unwavering support and kindness. Many people ran errands, delivered food and helped close up the cottage for the winter months. Others found Roberto a chair to sit in when he could not stand in line for appointments, gave him a flu shot in his vehicle because he had a hard time walking and even helped pre-decorate our house for Christmas. Our family feels so grateful to be part of a very special and caring community, and these thoughtful gestures will be entrenched in our memory forever.

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday November 29, 2022 from 3-6 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 30, 2022 at 12 Noon at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church with Fr.
