Obituary of Ferne Elizabeth Gallagher

GALLAGHER, FERNE ELIZABETH (DORCAS)

NOVEMBER 27, 1945-SEPTEMBER 6, 2022

The family of Ferne Elizabeth (Dorcas) Gallagher of Williamsburg/Stanley, NB, wife of the late Clair Gallagher (2009), are very sad, but with a sense of relief to announce her passing on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.

Mom loved all children, including the neighbourhood kids, and she held a special place in her heart and caring touch for Nick, Kristina, Shawn and Shannon.  She was a member of St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s Presbyterian Churches; St. Paul’s Presbyterian Ladies Aid (what a group that was).   Mom enjoyed a very busy summer, she made jam and pickles, planted a small garden, travelled to PEI for the first time, made a trip to Nova Scotia for a wedding, and in keeping with her enjoyment of family history, she attended the Sherwood family reunion.  Mom will be remembered as an excellent cook, wife, mother and grandmother.

Ferne is survived by her children, Sylvia MacKay (Tim) and Roger Gallagher; grandchildren, Nicholas Timothy MacKay and Kristina Michelle McKiel (Sean); brother, Dow Dorcas (Marg); her very special aunt, Doris Pinnock; in laws, Lorne Gallagher (Joan) and Lois MacLean (Robert); nieces, nephews, friends, special friend, Marg Landry and her church family; great granddogs, Winston and Jax.

 In addition to her husband and parents, Henry and Noreen (Sherwood) Dorcas; she was predeceased by her grandson, Timothy Benji MacKay; sisters, Barbara Ann Jewett Langan (Walter Jewett-Ken Langan), Mary Jean Fullarton (Glen) and brother, Richard Dorcas.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 2 pm with Rev. Lyn Hughes officiating.  Pallbearers for the service are Marty and Mike Pinnock, Sandy and Kyle Fullarton, Tim MacKay and Sean McKiel.  Interment will take place in Williamsburg Community Cemetery.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Williamsburg Community Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolence may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
