WHITE, HELEN ANNIE SARAH

MAY 5, 1925-JULY 9, 2022

Helen left us to enjoy her heavenly reward after devoting most of her 97 years to the church.  She lived her last years at the Veteran’s Health Unit, where she was given excellent care by the staff and her social worker, Carol Clark.

Helen joined the Air Force straight out of High School; a service of which she was very proud.  After leaving the Service, and completing a stenography course, she was employed by the Provincial Department of Tourism.  She then went to Standard Life Assurance, where she eventually became the private secretary to the area manager.  She resigned to take a position as personal secretary to Bethany Bible College President, Conrad Stairs.  After this she served as the personal secretary to the Wesleyan Methodist Superintendent, Ralph Ingersoll. She finished her working life with the Provincial Insurance Bureau.

Before moving to Sussex (where Bethany was located), she initiated and administered “Junior Crusaders” with the Reformed Baptist Church; teaching handicrafts, as well as Bible teachings to children too young to attend the Young Peoples meetings, her moto, “Teach them while there young”.

Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  She was the fourteenth of sixteen children, born to William and Emma Elizabeth (Nunn) White from Marysville.  She was predeceased by her brothers, William Jr. (Biddy), Eddie (Lena), Benny, Fred (Cecile), Ronnie (Edna), Albert, twin sister, Alberta, Doug, Bernadine “Deannie”, Bobby (Hanna), Ernest Sr. (Buddy) and Bernetta; sisters, Nellie, Hazel, Madeline Boyce (George), Mary “Mamie” Johnson and Kenny, and Eleanor Kierstead (Irvine).

She is survived by her sister in law, Marianne White (Late Albert White); adopted sons, Ernest Jr. (Cynthia) of Fredericton and Randy (Late Blanche) of Fort McMurray, AB of whom she assumed legal guardianship in 1958; feeling two brothers should live together.  Helen is also survived by several nieces and nephews; especially the Johnson girls, Sandra, Barbara and Late Kathy Shanks, who gave so much of their time and energy; as well as Fred Jr. and Gloria who visited faithfully, taking her out to dinner occasionally.

As she wished, there will be no visitation or service.  The Graveside Service will take place in Marysville Baptist Upper Cemetery, Canada Street on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Scott Dunham officiating.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
