Obituary of Jean Evangeliste Lavoie

LAVOIE, JEAN EVANGELISTE

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Lavoie announces his peaceful passing on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, at the age of 93.  Jean was born on December 3, 1928 in Nouvelle, Cte Bonaventure, QC, the son of the late Leon and Leda (Normand) Lavoie.  Jean and Victorine and their six children moved to Kingsclear, NB in 1967.  At the time Jean was working on the construction of the Mactaquac Dam as a Millwright.  After the completion of the Dam, he was employed by NB Power and continued to work at the Mactaquac Dam, until his retirement in 1983.   

In addition to his wife of 70 years, Victorine Savoie, Jean is survived by his children, Carol of Victoria, BC, Denyse Fox (Jim McGloin) of Fredericton, NB, Eric of Victoria, BC, Celine Parlee (Garry) of Fredericton, NB, Louise Lavoie of Calgary, AB and Roland of Keswick Ridge, NB; sister in law, Genevieve Williamson of Sudbury, ON.  He will be fondly remembered by his 13 grandchildren, Christopher Palmer, Jean-Vincent Fox (Sally Gaudet), Stephanie Nakamura (Jason), Angel Lavoie, Brent Parlee, Rachelle Bastien (Lance), Jason Lavoie, Melissa Luu (Richard), Nick Fox (Lisa Anderson), Lily Lavoie, Ryan Wills (Elena), Jacqueline Lavoie and Gabrielle Vredegoor (Tommy) ; 15 great grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicole, Daryll, Madison, Jayden, Jax, John, Henry, Taken, Booker, Hudson, Rose, Charlie, Ronnie and Claire; several nieces and nephews. 

Jean was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  In addition to his parents, Jean was predeceased by an infant son, Joseph; his brothers, Marc and Pierre; sisters, Lea, Simone, Marcelle, Yolande and Madeleine; son in law, Michael V. Fox and daughter in law, Helene Feltham. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff on 4SW at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for the care and compassion shown to our dad during his short stay at the hospital.

The family request that masks be worn to protect immunocompromised individuals present during the visitation and service.  

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 10-11am followed by the Funeral Service at 11am with Father Peter Melanson officiating.  Interment will take place in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, 2130 Lincoln Road, Lincoln at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.

Il était l'époux de Madame Victorine Savoie et le fils de feu Leon Lavoie et Leda Normand.

La famille vous accueillera le lundi 6 Juin, 2022, à 10h00 suivi d'une cérémonie à 11h00 au salon funéraire York, 302 promenade Brookside, Frédéricton, N.-B. E3A 5K2.
