Obituary of Irma M. Tucker

Please share a memory of Irma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Irma M. Tucker at the home of her daughter, Brenda and son in law, Marc Paradis, where for the last year she was cared for with so much kindness and compassion.  Born on December 29, 1927 in White Rapids, NB she was the daughter of the late Bevin and Elva (MacDonald) Sturgeon.

Irma is survived by her sons, Leroy, Bev (Cindy), Glenn and Donnie; daughters, Donna, Wanda (Mike) Melanson and Brenda (Marc) Paradis; daughter in law, Norma Tucker; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Gloria Sturgeon, Lorraine (Merlin) Duffy and Ginny (Mike) Agnew; brothers, Albert (Eleanor) Sturgeon and Reg Sturgeon.  In addition to her parents, Irma was predeceased by her sons, Perry and Darrell; sister, Verneva Coughlan; brothers, Cletus, Gordon and Percy Sturgeon.

Mum had a strong Catholic Faith and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Church Elite Nineties Club.  She was a Nursing Assistant at York Care Centre.  She was a devoted mother to her nine children and was always ready to help others, always putting her family and others before herself.  Mum was an amazing cook, she loved to bake, and was always baking keeping in her mind that “someone may drop in”.  Up until her eyesight deteriorated, she loved to knit, crochet and read.  She especially enjoyed watching her favourite show, Wheel of Fortune.  Many hours were spent in her recliner with her favourite Maltese sidekick, Suzi, curled up on her lap.  Mum had a great sense of humour and at 94 had a memory, most only hope to have.  She enjoyed and so looked forward to face-timing with and receiving special packages from Andrew and his girls in Australia

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Louise Ruest and Extra Mural nurses, Rebecca and Derek for the wonderful care provided to our Mother.

A Memorial Service will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 603 Union Street, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 11am with Father John Jennings as celebrant.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. Anthony’s Cemetery Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
