To the MacDonald and Van Horne families,
My name is Mouctar Balde and I’ve known Dame Mary Jane through my connexion with the Van Horne. We are neighbours for almost 12 years now.
I consider Jane Mary as my friend and also as my grandma. She brought me joy, laugh and I learned a lot from her.
She told me from day 1, that she loved my shoes ans since then we made everything around shoes to laugh. I knew she loved it and often I made sure to send her short videos of any shoes I’m wearing or buying.
My condolences go the entire family and friends. It is a great loss, but believe me she’s in a better place. Better place means being in paradise for me .
I pray my God to forgive her sins on earth and accept her at highest level of paradise.
She will be always in our hearts.
May Her Soul Rest Eternally in Peace.
Mouctar

I dealt with Mary Jane for years when I had Girl Guide units at the church, and it was always a delight. She was smart, she was competent and above all she was nice. I missed her after she retired - it seemed that nothing was quite the same.

My youth was so enriched by the time shared with your parents. I will never forget the pink milk at a Sunday school event in their apartment on Main Street or the very many Hi-C activities which were such fun. I never drive by McLeod Hill without thinking of our moonlight sliding parties. Or drive by the house on Brookside without thinking of the time spent there in my teenage years. How very fortunate we were to have had such wonderful leaders to share their time, their joy in life and their great kindness with us. My condolences on your loss. Carol Ashfield Loughrey

Greetings Jane, Jim and Jeff and families.
I am sorry for your loss of Mary Jane! I am grateful for her presence in my earlier years. She and Ian were an institution, hospitable and generous to so many of us in church youth groups and long after!
And I am grateful too that she is now “at home”, at peace and at ease.
Interestingly, Fred, Joyce and I were at dinner on Main Street the evening of her death and she was part of our conversation.
Blessings to each of you!
See you at the summer celebration of her life. ~ Ella

Mary Jane and my father, G. Ronald Campbell were cousins and I grew up knowing her and her family very well. I have many precious memories of family times together, either in Middle Sackville or on Brookside Drive in Nashwaaksis. She was a beautiful, wonderful lady and we kept in touch for many years. I have thought of her often over the years and am most saddened to learn of her passing. I extend my most sincere condolences to Jane, Jim, and Jeff and their families. God bless. ♥
