BOONSTOPPEL, KLAAS, 83, Fredericton.

KLAAS Boonstoppel passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022 surrounded by family and with the support of the caring and loving community at the Windsor Court Retirement Residence. Beloved husband of the late Ytje (Agema) Boonstoppel. Three sons, Gerry (Tammi), Richard (Carol), Marco (Diane); 11 grandchildren, Mia (Lucas), Anita (Preston), Jessica (Joel), Rachel, Brooke, Christina, Lucas, Isaac, Lauren, Natalie, David; and five great-grandchildren Ava, Isabella, Levi, Theodora, Marcus. Predeceased by his parents; his two brothers, Jan and Gerrit; and great-grandson Samuel.

Klaas was born on April 7th, 1938 in Monnickendam, Holland to Gerrit and Sijtje (de Boer). He married Ytje in 1963 and they started farming together in Overleek where they lived with their three boys before immigrating to Canada in 1979. The family settled on a dairy farm in Dumfries. In 1997 they retired from farming and moved to the Carlisle Road.

Klaas had a gift for connecting with and caring for people. His life was a ministry, from the days of his skilled hands helping friends in his workshop to sharing his strong faith with everyone at Windsor Court. He loved his neighbours wherever he was, with his genuine interest and sense of humour endearing him to many throughout his lifetime. He served faithfully in the Fredericton CRC through countless hours reaching out and visiting others, acting in leadership roles, and working as a handyman in the building. He had a penchant for wheeling and dealing, collecting odds and ends to share with anyone who might need it.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful support of Dr. Peter Dickinson and the staff at Windsor Court.

Visitation will take place at the Fredericton Christian Reformed Church at 121 McAdam Avenue on Thursday, March 24 from 3 to 6:30 pm. A funeral service will take place at the Fredericton CRC on Friday, March 25 at 1 pm with Rev. Dan Hoogland officiating.
