Obituary of Ralph Ingram Burtt
Ralph Ingram Burtt March 5, 1923 - February 10, 2022
Ralph was an original Burtt’s Corner Burtt. Born there, worked in the woods for a time before heading off to war. He was involved in D-Day operations through to Victory in Europe, returning home, a humble WWII Veteran. He went on to build his home, spent years retreading tires, snow plowing, handy man, then a carpenter because he wanted to be outside. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling the tales of those adventures. After retiring at 60, he started walking the streets and trail near his home. Later he travelled on a three wheel bicycle which was replaced by a much-loved motorized scooter that saw the Mouth of Keswick and Princes Margaret Bridge.
His passing has left a huge hole in his earthly family. Sadie, their daughters, Sheila and Frances (Doug) Seely, Grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) and Natalie Krill and Emily (Dillon Scott) Seely, Great Grandchildren Colton and Jorgia are grateful for his love and guidance. Andrew Reynolds, Elenora Reynolds, Darrell (Angie) Estey and family, many nieces and nephews and their families live on to remember his legacy.
He has joined his choir in the sky, his parents, Charles Edwin and Jen Sarah (Foster), all his siblings and spouses, Hazel (Ellis) Dunphy, Edwin (Laura), Ashley (Anna), Cecil (Effie), Gertrude (George) Reid, Inez (Jack) Gorman, Marie, Kathleen Hallam, Alton, and Shirley (Doug) Crandall. Ralph is also predeceased by a few nieces and nephews.
Sadie and the family wish to thank the many in-home caregivers who have graced our doors, Dr. Irrinki and staff, Dad’s special lady at DVA, all the Angels who work at Veterans Health Unit, friends, family and many others who have made his life special. Last but not least a special thanks to the students and teachers at KVMS involved in their Remembrance Day Project. Their letters brightened an old Veterans last days.
A Memorial Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10 am with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Remembrances may be made to your local Legion Poppy Fund or the Charity of the doner’s choice. Condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
In Loving Memory
