Obituary of Matthew John Jones

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Matthew John Jones, 37 years old due to a snowmobile accident. Matt recently lived in Gregoire Lake Estates, Alberta, originally from Fredericton, NB. He was the son of John and Carol Jones. He worked at Clark Toyota for 8 years as an auto technician, he then moved to Fort McMurray, AB in 2013 to work at Eastern Mechanics Ltd.  His passions were snowmobiling, boating and trekking through the woods.  From a young age he loved all things motorized.

He loved his family, friends, his only niece, Schala and his dog, Duke very much.

Matthew was predeceased by his grandparents, Douglas and Josephine Jones.  Survived by grandparents, Annis and Elwood Sharpe; parents, John and Carol Jones; uncles, Robin Sharpe (Angie), Philip Sharpe (Lisa), aunt, Jocelyn Morehouse; sister, Stephanie Mead (Aaron) and daughter, Schala; cousins, Robert Sharpe (Katie), Jacob Miller (Hali), Emily Sharpe, Joshua Sharpe, Brice Morehouse, Theresa McAllister (Jonathan); many more cousins.

Matt will be sorely missed by many.  He touched countless lives.

A Funeral Service by invitation only will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:30 am with Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating.  Those in attendance must provide proof of vaccinations and government issued ID.  Masks will also be required.  Public is welcome to view the live stream at www.yorkfh.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Autism Connections Fredericton or the Canadian Cancer Society.   Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
