Obituary of Elsie Marie Godber

Elsie Marie Godber nee Petersen (Pedersen) passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB in her 90th year.  She was the beloved wife of Raymond Percy Godber who passed away in 1995. 

 

Elsie will be greatly missed by her children, Randy (Cindy), Beth (Kim), Richard (Marlene) and Robyn (Stan); her grandchildren, Taylor, Lara (Matt), Kelly (Andy), Amy (Scott), Jim (Jocelyn), Scott (Kaytlin) and Kevin; great grandchildren, Lily, Matthew, Shyla, Seamus and Maggie.  Elsie was predeceased by her brother, Ep “Buster”. 

 

Mom was born in British Columbia and over the years lived in Quebec, Jamaica and New Brunswick.  Mom had many talents, she loved to cook and bake, but sewing and gardening were her passion. She was an avid and excellent bridge player, belonging to bridge groups in Montreal and Fredericton, she also enjoyed playing scrabble.  Mom loved to entertain and had a way of making people feel welcome and loved.  She was a Sunday school teacher and a Guide Leader.  Mom will be missed by all who knew her.

 

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the caring staff and management of Nashwaak Villa.  It was Mom’s home for 3 ½ years.  The staff, go above and beyond in giving loving, compassionate care, words cannot express our heartfelt thanks.

 

In keeping with Elsie’s wishes there will be no formal services.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Nashwaak Villa Foundation.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
