Obituary of Sidney George Nason

NASON, SIDNEY GEORGE

The passing of Sidney George Nason of Fredericton, NB, husband of Shirley (Pickard) Nason, occurred on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Hospice Fredericton.  Born on February 27, 1927 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late George and Florence (Gullison) Nason.  Sidney worked for CN Rail as a labourer and dispatcher.  Following his retirement in 1982, he worked for Social Development and was on the board for Meals on Wheels and the Fredericton Men’s Shelter.  He was also an active member of the Cancer Support Group for 26 years.     

In addition to his wife of 75 years, Sidney is survived by his children, Mary Williams (Gloria Mitchell), Bob McKinney (Joan); grandchildren, David Williams, Matt McKinney, Robyn McKinney and Tina Cirone; great grandchildren, Maddy Williams, Anthony O'Donnell; nieces and nephews, Debbie Carpenter, Len Nason, Barb Farrer, Allan Nason, Dale Nason. Shirley, Mary and Bob would like to express special thanks to many of Dad’s special friends.  We apologize if we overlooked anyone. This is a busy time for the family.  We want to acknowledge Debbie who was like Dad’s second daughter, special friends, Dale Lyons and Wenda, Irvine and Marjorie, Clayton and Donna, John Tapley, Dollie and Mack, Walter and Jenny, his brother, Stevie and Ina, Winnie and Jonny, Pat Alvin and Sue, Dale and Donna, Stephen and Glenda, Garnet and Shirley, Freddy and Marie, Stan and Francis, Larry Bavis, Art and Allie, Murray and Charlene, Billie and Elsie, Allan and Marcene, George and Irene, Ken and Beryl, Allan Gullison, Dany and Hilda, Gordon and Maysie, and many others, who we can’t recall at this time.  Thank You for you kindness, respect and friendship.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Brian Nason; and brother, Stephen Nason (Ina).

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 3-6 pm.  A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Homes T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 2 pm with Rev. John Symonds officiating.  Those attending the visitation or service must provide proof of vaccinations as well as government issued ID.  Masks will also be required.  Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
